7. Educators engage in professional learning.
As I mentioned under other standards, I strive to be a lifelong learner. Engaging in professional learning will not only further my knowledge base of the teaching profession but can also impact my connections and community.
Outside of involvement in formal professional development days, I believe daily self-reflection and connecting with other teachers are vital to the development of my pedagogy and teaching practices. I enjoy hearing a wide range of teaching philosophies so I can better understand student ways of learning that I never experienced personally. All students favour different teachers, so I think it is beneficial to try and go beyond what is natural to me in order to reach everyone in my class.
